The blizzard has passed. People are beginning to dig out. The wind has finally stopped.
I walked out to the outdoor Christmas tree late this afternoon. I had to admit it looked pretty special. It reminded me of the rainbow after the big flood.
This tree is over 20 feet tall. It is the height of a two-story house. The snow around it looks like a big white tree skirt. You can see the tracks of small animals in the snow.
For some reason I have always liked blue bulbs.
Can you hear Elvis singing "Blue Christmas?"
See the lights of town in the background. The town is about 2 miles away. Yes, Iowa is flat. But the prairie has its own beauty.
Walking back to the house I took this photograph without the flash. I like the way it looks.
But I liked getting inside even more. It will get extremely cold tonight. A blizzard has three distinct parts: (1)first it snows, (2) then it blows and (3) finally there is bitter cold.
Thanks for stopping by and thank you for all your nice comments yesterday.
PS For those people who were wondering, Cody Pony has been safely in his warm stall in the barn for the past 3 days. I never let him out in this kind of weather.
