HAPPY 51ST MERDEKA, MY MALAYSIA

Saturday. I really enjoy my boredom that I spent most of my time exploring Polyvore the newly found so-called craziness.
My sweet Anne Hathaway, I picked these stuff to imitate her style.  Don't you love them?  I do.

Queen Latifah is always be my inspiration.  Inspired by her look, I made these...

Who doesn't adore Angelina Jolie?  I love white stuff, so pure and satiny.  These are selected items to create her look.

I tried to pick some items on myself, based on my picture.  Very funny.  Not bad huh?

Nothing much to do later in the evening, no cooking involved since we 'tapau' some Chicken Rice at the nearby food outlet and I visited my parents' house before enjoying the sound of firecrackers during my shower.  Yes, I love to take shower late.  Not good huh?  I know but you know, when you are plus size,  you're always feeling HOT.  I mean it..... HOT!

Happy birthday to my country, hopefully you enjoy your surprise gift a.k.a Permatang Pauh's voting results.  Sweeeeeettt!!!!!

All good things must have the ending.  So does my favourite telenovela, Ezora.  I love the ending, love it so much that I shed a tear.  I didn't watch it on TV but managed to do later on via TV3's website.

I'm gonna miss Adreen this telenovela so very much next week!.

I'm still in demise of losing my favourite uncle but I try to reminisce the very special moments we had together, praying for his soul because I believe that everyone in the family will surely do. ^_^

I have been posting a lot of entry about MissBimbo before but when I visited missnurulle's blog, I admit it, I am now addicted to Polyvore!!  Viva la Polyvore!!  LOL.  Look at some of my styles, if I were 80 kgs lighter then.... hahahaha...

Imagine wearing this on Monday.... sassy.

Gonna have date with hubby tonight, so into pinky romantic night together...

The Aster Yellows Blues by Carol King

My latest indignity in the garden, (does it never end) is what appears to be a case of aster yellows in a cone flower, Echinacea purpurea. I’ve been watching the plant all summer and thought it was starting to look pretty good. It’s only three years old and while not really large, it is adequate in size with about a dozen flower blossoms.
Several weeks ago I noticed a Dr. Seussian blossom with funny shaped green things coming out of the flower. My research led me to this condition called aster yellows.
It is a disease carried by the aster leafhopper (Macrosteles quadrillineatus). Aster leafhoppers overwinter in northern Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Come spring, they want to get out of that heat and humidity and so they hitch a ride on the wind and end up in Colorado (and Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.) The leafhopper is infected with this bacteria-like creature and transmits it to susceptible plants. It is also called witches broom, purple top, apical leaf roll, blue stem, bunch top, haywire, late breaking, purple dwarf, and yellow top (English) and is found all over the world.

Aster yellows affect 300 different species that represent more than 40 families of plants. This list is not complete but as you can see, dear gardener, it can affect much of the garden. The saddest note of all is that it can totally affect the potato chip crop. Horrors!

Crops: broccoli, buckwheat, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, celery, endive, flax, lettuce, onion, parlsey, potato, parsnip, pumpkin, red clover, salsify, spinach, strawberry and tomato.
Flowers: aster, anemone, calendula, China aster, chrysanthemum, cockscomb, Coreopsis, cosmos, delphinium, daisies, echinacea, gaillardia, hydrangea, marigold, periwinkle, petunia, phlox, scabiosa, snapdragon, statice, strawflower, veronica, and zinnia.
Weeds: cinquefoil, daisy fleabane, dandelion, horseweed, plantain, ragweed, thistle, wild carrot, and wild lettuce.

Once infected, there is no cure. Diseased plants should be promptly removed and discarded to reduce further spread. So I guess I’ll go pull up and destroy my cone flowers and have a sad case of the aster yellows blues.
Here’s some more information.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

Thanks to Senator Jar Jar Bing for his email. Read this carefully. You will smile at the end of the story or laugh hysterically like me.

When you occasionally have a really bad day, and you just need to take it out on someone, don't take it out on someone you know, take it out on someone you don't know, but who you know deserves it.

I was sitting at my desk when I remembered a phone call I'd forgotten to make. I found the number and dialed it. A man answered, saying 'Hello.'

I politely said, 'This is Chris. Could I please speak with Robyn Carter?'

Suddenly a manic voice yelled out in my ear 'Get the right f***ing number!' and the phone was slammed down on me.

I couldn't b elie ve that anyone could be so rude. When I tracked down Robyn 's correct number to call her, I found that I had accidentally transposed the last two digits. After hanging up with her, I decided to call the 'wrong' number again. When the same guy answered the phone, I yelled 'You're an asshole!' and hung up.

I wrote his number down with the word 'asshole' next to it, and put it in my desk drawer. Every couple of weeks, when I was paying bills or had a really bad day, I'd call him up and yell, 'You're an asshole!'. It always cheered me up.

When Caller ID was introduced, I thought my theraputic 'asshole' calling would have to stop. So, I called his number and said, 'Hi, this is John Smith from the telephone company. I'm calling to see if you're familiar with our Caller ID Program?'

He yelled 'NO!' and slammed down the phone.

I quickly called him back and said, 'That's because you're an asshole!' and hung up.

One day I was at the store, getting ready to pull into a parking Spot. Some guy in a black BMW cut me off and pulled into the spot I had patiently waited for. I hit the horn and yelled that I'd been waiting for that spot, but the idiot ignored me. I noticed a 'For Sale ' sign in his back window, so I wrote down his number. A couple of days later, right after calling the first asshole (I had his number on speed dial,) I thought that I'd better call the BMW asshole, too. I said, 'Is this the man with the black BMW for sale?'

He said, 'Yes, it is.'

I then asked, 'Can you tell me where I can see it?'

He said, 'Yes, I live at 34 Oaktree Blvd , in Fairfax . It's a yellow ranch style house and the car's parked right out in front.'

I asked, 'What's your name?'

He said, 'My name is Don Hansen,'

I asked, 'When's a good time to catch you, Don?'

He said, 'I'm home every evening after five.'

I said, 'Listen, Don, can I tell you something?'

He said, 'Yes?'

I said, 'Don, you're an asshole!'. Then I hung up, and added his number to my speed dial, too. Now, when I had a problem, I had two assholes to call. Then I came up with an idea...
I called asshole #1.
He said, 'Hello.'
I said, 'You're an asshole!' (But I didn't hang up.)
He asked, 'Are you still there?'
I said, 'Yeah!'
He screamed, 'Stop calling me,'
I said, 'Make me,'
He asked, 'Who are you?'
I said, 'My name is Don Hansen.'
He said, 'Yeah? Where do you live?'
I said, 'Asshole, I live at 34 Oaktree Blvd , in Fairfax , a yellow ranch style home and I have a black Beamer parked in front.'
He said, 'I'm coming over right now, Don. And you had better start saying your prayers.'
I said, 'Yeah, like I'm really scared, asshole,' and hung up.
Then I called Asshole #2.
He said, 'Hello?'
I said, 'Hello, asshole,'
He yelled, 'If I ever find out who you are...'
I said, 'You'll what?'
He exclaimed, 'I'll kick your ass,'
I answered, 'Well, asshole, here's your chance. I'm coming over right now.'

Then I hung up and immediately called the police, saying that I lived at 34 Oaktree Blvd , in Fairfax , and that I was on my way over there to kill my gay lover.

Then I called Channel 7 News about the gang war going down in Oaktree Blvd in Fairfax .
I quickly got into my car and headed over to Fairfax .
I got there just in time to watch two assholes beating the crap out of each other in front of six cop cars, an overhead news helicopter and surrounded by a news crew.

Hahaha..!

Little Cars - 1/43rd Scale Models

People always ask me, "John, what do you do with all your spare time/"

I collect little cars.

1/43rd Scale models to be exact. They're about 5" to 6" long and can be pretty interesting in their level of detail.

I also really enjoy taking photographs of them and sharing them with my friends in the hobby. It's a fun past-time for me that Kelly patiently puts up with and has even, at times, helped me along.

I've come across a Russian gentleman in Boston, Mikhail Bashmashnikov (B & G), who hand makes, out of brass and resin, incredibly detailed miniaturizations of classic cars. I had the opportunity to photograph one of his little jewels this week. Remember this entire model is only 5" long and is completely fabricated by hand:

Here's a few examples of some of the outdoor photos I've had some fun with. I'll place the model on the roof of my car then, using a macro lens and playing with the angle of the shot, I can fill the background of the photo to make the car look as if it were in a real setting. Again, these models are only 5" long:

I Hate to Cook, But Sometimes Enjoy Experimenting

I hate to cook, which is odd because I love to eat, grow some of my own fruits and vegetables, and when I actually try I'm pretty good at it.

If I was a bit more worldly and sophisticated I might call myself a foodie.

Anyway, for some reason I still hate to cook, seriously hate it. The most dreaded question in my household is "what's for dinner?"

Maybe I started the whole cooking, responsible thing too early. With my mom working two jobs I was thrown into the homemaker position by 13. I did most of the grocery shopping and cooking for awhile. Then I had my first child young and I had to make sure the little guy ate. If it had been just me I could have survived off soup and whatever.

I am a product of the microwave age and the instant gratification generation. So for years (even now sometimes when I'm in a hurry) meals all come from boxes, cans and bags and mixes and are quick and easy. Making something from scratch was unheard of except for rare occasions, Thanksgiving (entire turkey dinner from scratch including home made stuffing), Easter and sometimes Christmas. I do have a few signature dishes that my family gets excited over like chili, cornbread, potato soup, and spaghetti. Yet most dinners at least came partially from a box.

As I've gotten older and my family has grown (and seems to keep growing though we have stopped reproducing, currently I usually cook for 6 or 7 people, me, my husband, our three kids, my mom, and a teenage boy who thinks he lives here, we call him our third son) I've started experimenting with food and recipes, though I can't seem to completely follow a recipe if my life depended on it. My husband says that's OK, it's the sign of a great cook when you take something and make it your own. Well, that I definitely do.

Boxed and prepackaged foods have become so expensive when it comes to feeding a large family that I'm trying to find cheaper, not to mention healthier options for dinners. Since I've been gardening for the past several years I've tried to find new recipes for the things I grow. This year I have several varieties of tomato including an heirloom, large yellow, small yellow pear, and early girl. I also have acorn squash, pumpkins, green peppers, and zucchini. I always end up with a lot so I share with friends and family.

This is my first year for zucchini. I looked up some recipes, changed them a bit and tried making them one night.

With my husband's help I made zucchini bread, zucchini spice cake, and zucchini sticks from scratch. No mixes, no cans, all fresh ingredients.

I changed out regular flour for organic whole wheat, switched walnuts and pecans to almonds, regular raisins for golden ones and everything tasted wonderful. We chopped and sliced zucchini and my husband ran a bunch through the food processor to grate it and we still had a ton left over. I thought people exaggerated about the prolificness of zucchini. I only planted one plant but I have tons of zucchini. I'll be making another batch of bread and cake soon. It was good.

I am so proud of myself. That's the first time I actually made cake or bread from scratch, sure I've made them from mixes before but never from scratch. I kinda enjoyed it even.

My next experiments will be making sun dried tomatoes, and pumpkin muffins, cake and bread, maybe even pie from the fresh pumpkins in my garden.

Someday I hope to learn how to can. Maybe I'll get my mom to teach me if she can remember, it's been a long time since she's done it.

THE DAY WE LOST OUR UNCLE

After hubby's shocking Young Hypertension finding, on Sunday's evening, whilst was preparing dinner at 6:30 p.m. my sister, Cynthia called me, and telling me that my uncle Henry had passed away.  I went into deep shocked and cried hysterically over the phone, in panic.  He's my daddy's youngest brother and was only 46.  I don't wanna talk about his illness as doctors themselves were unable to diagnose his ailment.  True.  They said there was nothing wrong with him.  What did they mean by nothing wrong if the lower part of his body was pale in white and cold, and his upper body was hot and sweating at the same time.  Was it mysterious??  I hope my assumption is true, those who did this will receive their 'bonus' soon, don't wait for Judgement Day.
It took me for days to write about this as everyone now is in despair.  His burial was delayed because my aunt has to report his death at the police station.  He passed away on the way to clinic so it is the right procedure before undergoing the post-mortem.
I went into another breakdown in the room after calling up my bosses and my colleague telling them that I was going back to Saratok that night.  My heart was crushed and I felt like suffocated.   Dad told mum not to cook curry with 'fucuk' (dried bean curd) as it was his favourite.  He left his pants when he visited us last year so my brother, Ted without any reason is wearing the pant.  Mom told him to keep the pant too.

What makes me devastated the  most?
I met him last month, on July 25th at Saratok's market.  It was pay day.  We invited him for lunch but he refused, he acted so unusual.  He looked like he lost his weight, too.  I felt like asking him why but our other topics were more interesting because he was in full spirit telling us about his new home, awaiting for bank's approval.  I forgot to give him some money as token, as usual whenever we visit Saratok.  I always pity him, and he's the one who really resembles my father.  Except, my daddy is chubbier.  I realized that I forgot to hand him some cash once we arrived at Sarikei.  Gosh!

And yet, yesterday was 25th.... we met again in different situation.  The final meeting wasn't at the coffee shop or his workplace.  There were no more gossips and laughters.  It was at the mortuary.  There were tears everywhere.  Dad couldn't stand to look at him any longer so lil' bro held him out of the place whilst me and hubby still looking at him, reminiscing the moments that we spent together.  How he was always proud with me, telling everyone that I'm his niece, working at this place as this and this and so on, how he jumped in joy whenever he saw hubby in Saratok, and he loved checking our car and made fun of us.  When we go back to our longhouse, we always go out to have dinner at the nearby Chinese temples and if we can't make it to go back for Gawai Dayak, he will ring up my dad and pretending that everyone is having lavish dish.  If we are on the way back to visit our longhouse, he's the one who always sticked to the HP to call us up, checking whether we're safe during our journey.

Now, who's going to do all that??? Who??  Tell me who????!!!!

...............

........

.....

*breakdowned and paused.

**Sniffss...sniffsss..

My late uncle was safely buried few minutes ago.  I know he already found the peacefulness and joyfully reunited with grandma May. -_-*

WEEKEND UPDATES

Latest news for my MISS BIMBO. She's getting prettier day by day and is now reaching level 11.  Some of her new pictures.

One dress, 3 different looks.

I created this look 4 days ago.

Well, now allow me to go to the next story.  It took me 24 hours later to grab back my confidence and hopes that scattered on the floor on Friday night.  Hubby's nose was bleeding at the workplace, initially we thought that it was due of the hot weather and such.  The next day, it went bleeding again and he went to see Dr. Tan's clinic.  She referred him to SGH but he refused to go, telling me that he needed to rest.

The condition worsened by the afternoon time so I told him that we seriously had to go to see doctor before the clinic closed at 4:30 p.m.  He still battled with his ego and stubbornness and said he just needed rest, that's it.  Dave called me few times to insist me to take him quickly to the hospital.  I couldn't explained to him how bad hubby's level of stubborn plus ego till he said, if I don't have my hubby today, I won't have him tomorrow if we just keep on delaying.  According to Dr. Tan, it could be caused by tumour or in our simple Malaysians mind set, it could be cancerous.

I grabbed the phone again, and threatened him.  This time, he managed to calm me down and agreed to go.  We went to Sekama to see Dr. Lu.  It didn't take us more than 3 minutes, Dr. Lu ordered him to go the Emergency and Trauma Unit at SGH.  He still bleed badly.  After 6 hours waiting, after long observation it was found out that he is suffering from hypertension.
We actually have discussed this before, whenever he has migraine he will just swallow the pills.  I told him this will never help him anyhow.   He must get treatment otherwise eventually the blood vessels will rupture and cause haemorrhage that will lead to stroke or fatality.  He never believed me, who is working with the health department for nearly 10 years... except his egomaniac.

In the real situation, very high blood pressure at his reading, 220/160 is damn high!!  Jesus really saved his life, so the impact was - nose bleed.   OMG!!  See darling?  What have I told you before?  I was sleeping at the waiting area when he shook me to take me home.  The funny thing was, he drove himself to the hospital and drove us home.... finally.
I'm relieved finally but the saga is still on!  He needs to go Polyclinic for the next medical check up.

God's Foreknowledge

"Here certainly, there is no place for the vain argument of those who defend the foreknowledge of God against the grace of God, and accordingly maintain that we were elected before the foundation of the world because God foreknew that we would be good, not that He Himself would make us good. This is not the language of Him who said, 'You did not choose Me, but I chose you' (John 15:16)."-Augustine

KOREAN'S SPECIAL NOODLES

North Korean scientists have developed a new kind of noodle that delays feelings of hunger, a Japan-based pro-Pyongyang newspaper has reported.

The noodles were made from corn and soybeans, the Choson Shinbo said.

They left people feeling fuller longer and represented a technological breakthrough, the newspaper said.

North Korea is dependent on foreign food aid. Last month the UN warned that residents were experiencing their worst food shortages in a decade.

But the communist country remains reluctant to allow experts to fully assess the scale of the problem or give them adequate access to deliver aid.  Read more here!

Wowww...

I love noodles so much.  Very very much.  My question is, are these noodles available online? -_-**

Regarding Last Week's Sermon - Religion and Politics

Seems Scott's message on religion and politics was challenging to a few folks last week! Praise God! Folks are listening! Praise God, some of them are willing to speak up.

I received one note from an "anonymous" writer and, while it is my personal policy and that of the Elder Board at WBF not to respond to anonymous letters, this one was well written and constructive in its' tenor and, I thought, deserved to be addressed for the sake of others who may have the same questions.

Since the email address included in the letter has an error in it, I have posted my response below:

"Pink",

As a rule, I and the Elders do not respond to anonymous letters. As yours seem to be sincere in looking for answers and making constructive comments, I am making an exception.

I loved reading you letter. I really was blessed by the way I could see the Holy Spirit working in you even as you wrote.

You're conclusion was absolutely right, we are to love the lost because God first loved us when we were lost. Take a look at John 4 for some good guidelines for all this.

One of the great principles of the Bible is that God loves the sinner (each of us) but despises the (our) sin. As far as 'acceptance' goes, that may be a different story. I don't think Scott meant for us to embrace homosexuals, atheists, abortionists, etc and accept their behavior.

Clearly, we are to love these people (as we have been learning in 1 Cor 13, which applies to ALL people, not just other brothers and sisters in the Lord). Just as clearly, we are to detest sin and its' consequences and impact on our lives.

Therein lies the great Christian dilemma; how do we love the unlovable yet reject their sinful ways? Fortunately, as we have been struggling through 1 Cor 13, we have seen that we can only do this by allowing the love of God to flow through us while we strive as hard as we can to be obedient to Him and to turn away from our own sinful practices.

Scott's rightful approach to this dilemma, as he stated last Sunday, was to love others (all others) as we have been loved and to make sharing the gospel our highest priority, above all other activities including political and social activism.

This doesn't mean we are not to be politically active. But it does mean that when we choose to become politically or socially active, we do so in a loving and godly way using the Scriptures as a guideline for our behavior. Jesus sat with sinners. The Pharisees judged and condemned Him for it repeatedly. Ultimately, He told them, in so many words, "I came here because they are sick and need me. They're the ones who need Me the most!" (Mark 2:17, read the first 16 verses as well. As a matter of fact the whole chapter puts things into perspective).

To answer your question as to whether or not we sould associate with sinners, "No, we are not to avoid the sinners. they need to hear and see Who Christ is. We're His agents in the world and our job is to take His good news to those who need to hear it the most." So, we embrace them...love them... but, we are to avoid their behavior.

The gist of Scott's message is that we should never forsake the gospel for our own political or social agenda and that in pursuing either, we should always reflect the character and nature of Christ (1 Cor 13 1-7) and the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5).

Needless to say, we are not all called to minister on an ongoing basis to sinners only. We should approach these relationships only after much prayer and only with familiarity of the Scriptures less we fall into sin ourselves.

How does this play out in the life of our church? While we at WBF would welcome an abortionist, an atheist, a homosexual or any other sinner with open arms, we would not tolerate ongoing and unrepentant behavior along those lines. We would expect that the solid teaching of the Scriptures and the clear presentation of the gospel would lead to the heart transformation Scott spoke of and, ultimately, to repentance from those actions. Without this type of 'fruit' in their lives, we would not be able to continue in fellowship with them (Matt 18).

Overall, this is the type of political action Scott was endorsing. The kind that brings people into the kingdom rather than divides them over issues of partisan politics. If we concentrate on bringing people into the kingdom of God and teaching them what the Scriptures say about the issues, the issues will resolve themselves far better than any lobbying group, proposed legislation, protest or political action can resolve them.

I will be sharing on some of this Sunday morning. I deeply appreciate your willingness to speak up. this is how we learn and grow together. Thanks and please, come introduce yourself to me. I don't take your note as a complaint at all, I read it as an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little better.

Thanks for your input.

ANOTHER DAY ..

Ohh.. I notice that my sunburn had gone already. Yippie!  Thanks to my St. Ives scrub and my sulphur soap.  Everything is back to normal now.  First, I regained the Modem's consciousness via phone call with my favourite buddy cum technician, Jar Jar the Bing Clarenze Lymn (I promote you here, buddy! ^(-_-)^).  What a glamorous name, isn't it?  Don't worry Jar Jar, I know how to do it now.

It's my baby PC while being repaired... pity her.*sigh

Eh, we went to the Padungan's Food Fair.  Finally.  The only way to go there easily is during the weekdays.  But again, the place was crowded today, as this week is school holiday.  Totally forgot about that. OK.  I was hungry and so did Mr. Hubby Wobby.  So we had two hungry pigs horses searching for foodie foodie eh.  *Sniff sniff..

The 2nd entrance is welcoming us! NOT THE GUY.

The hungry crowd at their favourite stalls.

Taiwanese Sausage or Sio Bee? The battle begins....

Sweet, spicy and crunchy.  Those sausages are definitely the winners!  I still remember we used to buy these sausages at a kiosk in front of BDC Everrise.  Recall anyone?

My tastebud will always be Malay/Mamak.  Behold the Mutton Briyani & Papaddom, my lovely crunchy Papaddom.  My first encounter with Briyani with Sambal Ikan Bilis.  Huhh???!!   Mbeeekkk.. Mbekkkkk.... :p

The best part of it all was to eat while watching the sunset.  Romantic.  Perggghhhhh.....  Met my colleague, Mr. Eng there too.  He was asking about Boss while I was trying to get rid of his image and workloads. Haha!!  What else?  Oh ya, the stalls are the same every year but I can see the improvement at the baloon's kiosk.  They really upgraded themselves from selling the clown-twist-baloon (I dunno actually how do you call that stuff) to the latest pop sensations like Doraemon and Hello Kitty.  Nasib baik Gabriella didn't follow us, otherwise she will buy 2-3 of them.  Lol.  By the way, the Mango drinks were rock!!!  We left the place an hour later and see you guys in August 2009.  Hehe....
Oh.. another camwhoring activity revealed this....

No more Latin America look sunburn.  Yes! Yes!

HELLO MY FRIENDS!

I miss to update my blog because I had no internet connection at home and I was busy in the office to settle few stuff before my boss  going for another round of official trip with the Big Boss.  Have few things to gossip with you guys since, I dunno, my disappearance?  How should I start?  What I wanna say actually. Yup.  Personal attacks.  Recently, most of my blogger friends restricted their readers for the reasons of personal attacks.  I also had twice attacks so far and personally, those words were quite irritating but I always take it positively.
They are easy to get rid off.  Just delete their stupid, non-ethic, rotten-hearted comments.  That's it.  They are not like the voices that roaming inside your head.  The best thing is, they might jump like a monkey in front of PC, attacking people while on the other side, their IP is being tracked!!  I salute one of my fellow bloggers, Cuthess.  She took the most dramatic action to solve this problem - printed and traced the IP and lodged a police report.  Genius.  So why should you bother to make your blog a secrecy?  It's for sharing, come on!

.... people attack you when they happen to know you.  When they happen to know you then you are popular, when you are popular, you must face the consequences and I welcome you to the Blogging World, joining the other forces of Blog Power in the World Wide Web.

Ok, for some reading, knowledge input, please read this article: Respond vs. React – Dealing With Bullies On The Internet.
