But, you know it can change pretty quickly at the beach. By 1:30, the sky looked like this:
In between the beautiful morning and the rainy afternoon, there was the exquisite experience of knowing vacation was only half over as I watched the folks around us pack up to go home. By 11:00 AM, the normally crowded pool and beach were empty:
It's been a great week and we've been blessed all week long with good weather and some great times together. Having Jason and Jessie join us has been a pleasant surprise and we're looking forward to next week.
I've got some reading done (mostly casual, there's a new Jason Bourne book out) and Kelly, who brought her keyboard, has written a new song and done some reading ("Suffering and the Sovereignty of God" by John Piper). We've spent a Lot of time with our iPods, listening to some of the worship music we picked up at the conference last week. Thanks to the technical wizardry of Diane Strang, we also took some time to listen to John Boswell's sermon from last Sunday and are looking forward to hearing Ernests's before we get home next weekend.
It's been a great week of rest, prayer and contemplation. We've had the chance to pray for all of you back home and were even blessed by a few opportunities to pray with some of you on the phone and by email. We love being in touch and are blessed mightily when we hear from you.
One axiom that holds true, though, "A rainy day at the beach is better than a snowy day anywhere else in the world!"
BTW, I made that up. Don't tell Pastor Bob.
