Thank you to all of them and to all the proud and brave Canadians who have fought and served side by side with the Americans and Allied forces. Young men and women of both countries are still placing their lives in danger so those of us at home can live in freedom.
I still remember January, 1980, when the Canadians rescued six American diplomats by smuggling them out of Iran at great risk to the Canadians' lives. The six diplomats had managed to avoid being caught and held hostage in November, 1979. There have been many, many times when the Canadians and Americans have worked together over the years.
