Prairie Flowers

Today was, well, just another one of those days. Nothing much going on. Some sun. Some clouds. Not too hot. Rather humid.

Bailey was laying by the fountain.

The marigolds were not too exciting but he did eat a little grass. Of course, that means it's going to rain.

As long as he was there, he decided to take a drink. The fountain was not on and waiting to be cleaned... oh well, sometimes he really does think he is a dog!

I liked the blooming hosta close to the fountain.

Walking out to the ditch, I saw some butterfly milkweed. They are orange.

Here's a compass plant. These plants are very tall.

The pale yellow cone flower is a staple of any prairie restoration project.

Of course, the purple cone flower is extremely popular.

Here's a little cabbage butterfly sitting on a coreopsis.

The purple prairie clover is another favorite of the northern prairie.

Yet with all the beautiful wildflowers in the ditch, nothing beats nice soft grass.

Thanks for stopping by.
