Keramoti Beaches

Keramoti has some of the finest beaches I've ever seen. Large, wide expanses of soft white sand gently sloping into a vivid turquoise blue Aegean Sea are ideal for sun bathing and taking in some of the breath taking scenery of Northern Greece.

The main beach is huge, about 10 km long (that's European for about 6 miles) and populated with large public areas. There are also a number of "clubs" offering the use of umbrellas, hammocks, small tables, lounge chairs with the purchase of a very modestly priced soft drink or sandwich. One club, the "Aqua Paradise" (the only one we've been to so far) even has a huge inflatable water slide. The waiters at the clubs are multi-lingual and very helpful without being intrusive. Even the street vendors (who can sell you a ROLEX for only $10!) are polite and courteous.

The water is warm and refreshing and wave action is minimal. The whole scene is very family oriented. As a matter of fact, if not for the backdrop of Thassos Island or the Greek mountains and the occasional Speedo here and there, you might think you were on Topsail Island or Nags Head.

There are a lot of people on the beaches but the clubs are so large and the chairs so numerous, they never seem to get crowded. Still, there are enough non-commercial areas that it's not hard to find a secluded spot if you're looking for a quiet time. It's a great and relaxing place to spend an afternoon!

The music is from...what else?....Zorba the Greek!
