Dawes Point, The Wharf Theatre
Walsh Bay, on Sydney Harbour, stretches between Dawes Point and Millers Point. The Walsh Bay wharves were originally part of Sydney's port facilities. The Wharf Theatre opened in 1984 in the redeveloped warehouse building on Pier 4 and Pier 5. It contains two theatres: Wharf 1 has 339 seats and Wharf 2 has 205 seats. It is the home base for the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Dance Company. It also features The Wharf Restaurant at this end of the building.

Millers Point, Walsh Bay
Walsh Bay is on Sydney Harbour, stretching between Dawes Point and Millers Point. This view of the wharves and Sydney skyline is from a ferry on the harbour. Pier 8 and Pier 9 of the Walsh Bay wharves, were originally part of Sydney's port facilities. The old warehouses on the wharves here have been redeveloped into commercial and residential spaces.

Dawes Point, Walsh Bay

Dawes Point, Ives Steps Wharf
Ives Steps Wharf is located beside Pier One at Dawes Point, looking out on Sydney Harbour. The infamous Billy Blue operated a regular passenger boat service from Dawes Point across the harbour to Blues Point from 1830. The boat dock was approximately where the Ives Steps Wharf is now, but at that time it was called Waterman's Steps. They were renamed after Alderman Isaac Ellis Ives around 1896.

Wolloomooloo, Finger Wharf
Wolloomooloo Wharf, also known as the Finger Wharf, viewed from The Domain on the foreshore of Wolloomooloo Bay. Built in 1915, it was a working wharf until the 1970s. It was redeveloped into a hotel, apartments, restaurants and a marina in the 1990s. The newer apartments built at the end of the wharf are some of the most expensive in Sydney. The name Woolloomooloo is believed to be derived from an Aboriginal word, either Wallamullah meaning 'place of plenty' or Wallabahmullah meaning a 'young black kangaroo'.

Balmain, ferry wharf
Balmain Wharf, also known as the Thames Street Wharf, sits on Mort Bay in Balmain. It is serviced by Sydney Ferries, with regular services between Circular Quay and Parramatta. Sydney Harbour Bridge, Goat Island and the inner west suburb of Balmain East can be seen in the distance.

Woolloomooloo, boat
This boat with very tall masts was moored at the marina in Woolloomooloo Bay, beside the Finger Wharf in the inner city suburb of Woolloomooloo. The old warehouse buildings on the wharf have been converted into a hotel, apartments and restaurants. Most of the boats moored here belong to residents of these exclusive apartments.

Millers Point, boats
These rescue boats and harbour pilot boats are moored at Moore's Wharf, on Walsh Bay, in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. The vessels, outside the Operational Headquarters of the Sydney Ports Corporation, are used on Sydney Harbour. The Harbour Control Tower was once used for the the city's port facilities, at what is now known as Barangaroo.

Rydalmere, ferry wharf
This ferry wharf, on the northern side of the Parramatta River, is in the north western suburb of Rydalmere. A regular service is provided by RiverCat ferries, part of Sydney Ferries, on the Parramatta River route. Sometimes, due to flooding or natural low tides in the shallow waters of upper Parramatta River, some trips between Parramatta and Rydalmere are replaced by buses.

This ferry wharf, on the southern side of the Parramatta River, serves the western suburb of Parramatta. A regular service is provided by RiverCat ferries on the Parramatta River route between here and Circular Quay. It is the farthest point of travel for Sydney Ferries on the river route, since a weir next to it prevents further travel upstream.

Pyrmont, Jones Bay Wharf
A view of Jones Bay Wharf, in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont, with Barangaroo and the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the distance. Jones Bay Wharf consists of Piers 19-21 of Pyrmont Wharves. This marina on Jones Bay sits beside Pier 21. The wharf and warehouse buildings were originally built in 1919, as part of Sydney's port facilities. After those port facilities were relocated to Port Botany, the buildings were redeveloped in 2003 into commercial space.

Birchgrove, wharf
Birchgrove Wharf is in the inner west suburb of Birchgrove. It is also known as the Yurulbin Point Wharf or Louisa Road Wharf and had been known as Longnose Point wharf, in the past. The wharf with this covered passenger waiting area is located on the Parramatta River as it enters Sydney Harbour. It is serviced by Sydney Ferries on the Inner Harbour Services between Circular Quay and Woolwich.

Woolloomooloo, Finger Wharf
The Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf on Wooloomooloo Bay is the largest timbered-piled building in the world. The wharf and warehouse on it were built in 1915 and remained part of a working port until the 1970s. The warehouse building was redeveloped in the 1990s into a hotel and apartments, with restaurants along the boardwalk and a marina beside the wharf.
