Al Jazeera reports,
Qais Azimy, Al Jazeera's correspondent in Kabul, said that Afghan officials have confirmed that Bin Laden had died and that his body was with the United States. One of President Oba,a's campaign promises was that he would get bin Laden. For all the criticism I have given Obama, it is only fair to say, well done sir.
Officials would not confirm whether he had been killed in Afghanistan or Pakistan, and said that the death of the al-Qaeda leader was more of a "symbolic victory", as he was no longer directly connected to the group's field operations, Azimy reported.
The BBC: "The al-Qaeda leader was killed in a mansion outside Islamabad in an operation based on actionable US intelligence, CNN reported."
FoxNews:
Sources said bin Laden was killed by a U.S. bomb a week ago. The U.S. had been waiting for the results of a DNA test to confirm his identity.More - a "flash mob" is reported gathered outside the White House, chanting, "USA! USA!"
NBC News just said OBL was killed by a drone strike.
President Obama just said the US conducted the strike that killed OBL.
Well, true to form, Obama is talking about himself almost exclusively.
I think that Obama just said that OBL was killed Sunday by a small ground force in a firefight.
He just said that Pakistan assisted in the intelligence that pinned down OBL's location.
A very good salute to the armed forces who carried out the mission. Well said, well said.
My gosh, I actually think that President Obama actually implicitly endorsed the idea of American exceptionalism. Overall, a very good speech, probably the best Obama has given on military affairs.
Obama will get a big bump up in the polls.
