I Wish I Had This Book for Christmas

Browsing through my local library’s green section I recently came across A Greener Christmas. Wow! I really wish I would have had this book at Christmas. What a great book filled with crafts and recipes to bring back the old fashioned feeling of a true Christmas, not a glitzy glammy one.

I have discovered several ideas in the book that can easily be transformed to fit Valentine’s Day so I don’t have to wait almost a whole year to put any of these nifty ideas into use.

More Green Crafts

So enough about depressing stuff back to the happiness of the holidays. Here are more photos of some of my green crafts. Of course mom and hubby, Robert, helped out.

I have snowmen made from scrap pieces of wood and Popsicle sticks and Christmas stockings made from fabric samples from a furniture store.

Several years ago I worked at La-Z-Boy and they would just throw out boxes of the old fabric swatches. So one time I grabbed a huge box and brought them home determined to do something with them. Since I can't sew I had my mom help and we made a bunch of Christmas stockings, bags, and I put together enough pieces to make a quilt but so far that has never been sewed together. In fact it disappeared. But I still have fabric left so we'll see what I can do. I really need to learn how to sew. But hey I saved stuff from ending up in a landfill.

Creatively Green Penguins

These cute little penguins were made from yogurt cups, small smoothie bottles, paint and craft foam. I love them. I spent last weekend making a bunch of green Christmas crafts and these were some that I created.

I think they are the babies to the penguin couple below.

These two crafty penguins were made from a laundry detergent bottle and a coffee creamer bottle, some paint, craft foam, and google eyes. Along with a few snowmen accessories I found in my Christmas craft box.
