Very few people realize Tommy James got saved after his rock and roll career got started. He started writing songs about his salvation experience. This was one of them. The wine mentioned was the communion wine. His record company wasn't very happy about all this but, by the time he started writing about his faith, he was already a fairly big star. There wasn't much they could do about it!
