En algunas de esas páginas de internet al re-pedo encontré este ranking de las actrices y/o modelos consideradas las más atractivas de este año, la verdad que siempre son tan innecesarios como interesantes este tipos de recuentos a fin de que cada uno tiene sus elegidas y no siempre suelen ser anglosajonas como estas candidatas. Comenzamos con el puesto 69 a cargo de la nena de Harry Puter: Emma Watson.

Viernes Automotor: Ford GT

El Ford GT es un automóvil superdeportivo que fue construido por Ford Motor Company desde 2003 hasta 2006. Se inició como un prototipo diseñado en previsión del centenario de Ford, y como parte de su campaña para exhibir y reactivar su "patrimonio" de nombres como Ford Mustang y Ford Thunderbird. Camilo Pardo, el jefe de Ford "Living Legends" estudio, se acredita como el jefe de diseño del GT y trabajó bajo la dirección de J Mays. Los diseñadores se inspiraron en el clásico Ford GT40, un coche de carreras de la década de 1960, el GT es a veces confundido con su predesor de los años 60.

Desarrollo

El Ford GT comenzó como un prototipo diseñado en previsión del centenario de la marca automotriz y como parte de su campaña para exhibir y reactivar su "patrimonio" de nombres como el Ford Mustang y el Thunderbird. En 1995, durante el Detroit Auto Show, el concepto del rejuvenecido Ford GT 90 fue mostrado al público. En el salón del automóvil de 2002, Ford dio a conocer un nuevo concepto sobre el GT40. Camilo Pardo, jefe de estudio de la Ford del "Living Legends", se acredita como el jefe de rediseño del GT y trabajó bajo la dirección de J. Mays.

El GT es similar en apariencia al coche original Ford GT40, pero más grande, más ancho y 76 mm (3 pulgadas) más alto que el original de 100 cm (40 pulgadas), y como resultado, entre los nombres posibles fue el de GT43. Aunque los coches son aparentemente relacionados estructuralmente, no existe ninguna similitud entre el modelo GT moderno y el modelo de 1960, el GT40 del cual fué la inspiración. Tres prototipos de coches para su producción se mostraron en 2003 como parte del centenario de Ford, y la entrega de la producción del nuevo Ford GT comenzó en el otoño del 2004. Una compañía de Ingeniería británica, Safir, construyó el rejuvenecido GT40 descontinuado en la década de 1980, y cuya propiedad del diseño del "GT40" original en esas epocas. Cuando terminó la producción, las ultimas piezas del montaje del vehículo, su utillaje, así como el modelo de diseño de la marca, fue comprado por una pequeña compañía en Ohio Repuestos Safir GT40. Esta compañía autorizó la utilización del "GT40" cuya marca fue concedida aFord para la demostración inicial en 2002. Cuando Ford decidió que entrara en producción el vehículo, las negociaciones entre las dos empresas que habían fracasado. La producción de dichos automóviles no llevarían aún la insignia del GT40.

Producción y ventas

El GT se produjo sus respectivos modelos para el 2005 y 2006, con los primeros clientes al hacerse cargo en agosto de 2004. El GT inició su montaje con los sistemas Mayflower en el vehículo en Norwalk, Ohio, y fue pintado por Saleen Special Vehicles en las instalaciones en Troy, Michigan. El GT es impulsado por un motor fabricado en la planta de Ford Motor en Romeo, Michigan. La instalación del motor y la caja de cambios manual y con un acabado interior estuvo a cargo de la SVT de Ford durante su construcción en la planta de Wixom, Michigan. De los 4.500 GT previstos inicialmente, 100 fueron destinados paraa su exportación a Europa, a partir de finales del 2005. Otros 200 fueron destinados para la venta en Canadá. La producción concluyó en 2006 sin llegar a la cantidad prevista. Aproximadamente 550 coches fueron construidos en 2004, casi 1.900 en 2005, y poco más de 1.600 en 2006, para un total de 4.038. Los últimos 11 coches fabricados por Mayflower fueron desmontados, y los marcos y los paneles de la carrocería fueron vendidos como repuestos.

Como ocurrió con muchos vehículos exóticos, cuando el Ford GT fue lanzado por primera vez, la demanda superó la oferta, y los coches vendidos inicialmente fueron a precios superiores. La primera venta privada de Ford con motor de coche deportivo se completó a mediados del 4 de agosto de 2004, cuando el ex ejecutivo de Microsoft, Jon Shirley hizo la entrega del Ford Midnight Blue GT en 2005. Shirley habia ganado el derecho para comprar la primera producción del Ford GT (con chasis # 10) en una subasta benéfica en el Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance después de que la licitación de la subasta lo subastó en más de 557.000 dólares. Algunos otros coches al principio fueron vendidos en US$100.000 dólares con respecto al precio de venta sugerido de $US 139.995 doláres (Ford aumentó el precio sugerido de $US149,995 el 1 de julio de 2005). Los coches opcionales disponibles incluyen un sistema de sonido de McIntosh, carroceria de pintado con rayas, y llantas de aleación forjadas agregandole un adicional de $ 13.500 a la MSRP. La campaña de producción del modelo GT fue de 4.038 coches, terminandose para el año 2006 el 21 de septiembre de 2006, por debajo de los 4.500 previstos inicialmente. Rendimiento e ingeniería

El Ford GT cuenta con muchas tecnologías nuevas y únicas, incluyendo una estructura superplástica formada por los paneles para la carrocería de aluminio, unidas en un despliegue para los paneles del piso, y una soldadura por fricción para el túnel central, siendo este unido por un tanque de gas, y con un sistema de inyección de combustible sin tapón, y con una sola pieza para los paneles de las puertas, y una cubierta del motor de aluminio con una sola pieza de fibra de carbono para el panel interior.

Los frenos son de cuatro pistones de aluminio Brembo con pinzas perforadas y rotores ventilados en las cuatro esquinas. Cuando la cubierta trasera se abre, los componentes de la suspensión trasera y el motor son visibles. La mitad del motor de 5.4 Litros de estructura modular V8 es completamente de aluminio, del tipo Lysholm de doble husillo para la sobrealimentación. Cuenta con un montaje forjado de rotación situado en un bloque de aluminio diseñado específicamente para el programa del GT. Un sistema de cárter seco se utiliza para la lubricación, lo que permite que el motor esté ubicado bajo en el marco del coche. El motor DOHC de con cabezas de 4 válvulas son una revisión del modelo del año 2000 de las cabezas del Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R, haciendo de los cilindros (que posee un ligero aumento del grosor de la pared de fundición en el puerto de escape). Los árboles de levas tienen especificaciones únicas, con mayor elevación y duración que las que se encuentran en el Shelby GT 500 o los modelos de 2003-2004 del Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. La potencia es de 550 CV (410 kW 558 CV), a 6500 rpm y genera 500 ft· lbf (678 Nm) de torque a 3750 rpm. Con una Transmisión Manual de seis velocidades, está equipado con una hélice limitada con un diferencial de deslizamiento.

Opinión

Tuve la fortuna de conocer el GT40 gracias a que lo compre cierto día en una tienda departamental. Posteriormente jugando Need For Speed (PSone) conocí el el GT90, ambos me gustaban bastante, el GT40 parecía un coche de carreras de Le Mans y el GT90 parecía uno de esos coches que serian comunes en el futuro que yo imaginaba en ese entonces. Fue agradable ver que años después saliera el GT honrando la memoria y el diseño del GT40. Al igual que todos los super o hiper coches, tiene sus muchas desventajas, este en especial tiene la desventaja de consumir bastante combustible, así como ser muy ancho para conducirse por cualquier calle. Por lo demás es un auto bastante estético.

It's Easy to Go Green for Halloween

How easy it is to celebrate green

Busy parents need greening to be simple. Whatever the choice may be (goodies, costumes, décor, etc.), adding an eco-friendly twist shouldn’t increase stress and chaos to an already hectic holiday season. But making healthy and green choices is, in fact, easier than it seems. The key is thinking (and acting) outside the conventional candy box.

1. Plan ahead. Halloween is a fairly last minute holiday, resulting in a lot of knee-jerk choices that aren’t good for kids or the planet. But if you make a habit of thinking ahead, you can find exactly what you want while saving time, energy and reducing stress. One idea is to create a reoccurring appointment in your calendar for each October 1^st. Decide what you are going to give away this year and, if necessary, order it online or pick it up. If you have the bandwidth to coordinate with a few friends or co-workers, you can save money by buying online, splitting the quantities and dividing the shipping charges. If the recycled plastic tops or eco-themed temporary tattoos are a hit, make it easier on yourself by giving the same thing away next year. (Make your green goodies a tradition.)

2. Take a different road. Who said goodies have to be bought at grocery stores? Most of us run out to the grocery store the night before Halloween to pick up that 10 pound bag of candy (or two), but what if we realized that great, green goodies can be found elsewhere, too? What about picking up some seeds while you’re at the nursery? Or some cool glass beads when you drive by the art supply store? Playing cards with magic tricks, recipes and Halloween jokes can be found at bookstores and toy stores. Lots of ideas for “treasures” can be found here.

3. Include the kids. Going green is a family affair, so make it easier on yourself and include the kids by asking for their ideas. When they’re involved from the get-go, they’re more like to stay involved and to have positive attitudes.

4. Relax. Going green isn’t an all or nothing deal and busy moms have a lot on their minds and plates. So start with simple green steps that will work for your family this year. You can always add more the next time around. Holidays should be about the fun, not about the stress. Even green choices, if stressful, won’t be sustainable over the long haul.

Other ideas:

The loot

· When it comes to which goodies to hand out, take a cue from doing laundry. Why? What “treasures” do your kids stash in their pockets? Polished rocks, feathers, seashells, and other items from nature are timeless treats for children of all ages. (And we’ve polled thousands of kids – toddlers to teens – who say goodies like these get two thumbs up!)

· No matter what goodies you give away, give just one (instead of handfuls). When we were kids, most of us received one treat and each door, but now everything is supersized – including trick-or-treating. Giving away just one of something is easy to do, costs you less and is better for children and the planet. And here’s a tip: Place goodies in a bowl and let kids know - with barely contained enthusiasm - that they can choose just one really special treat. When you do, something magical will happen. The kids will get excited about picking that one perfect treasure – more excited than if they had received a handful.

· Many stores have healthier options for Halloween, but they might not know it (or market them as such). Take a quick stroll through the aisles and consider treats and treasures such as: Larbars, honey or agave sticks (may cost as little as 5-10 cents apiece), Stretch Island fruit leathers, all natural gum (like Glee Gum), or mini packs of all natural or organic crackers, granola or granola bars, cookies, or dried fruit. For treasures, stickers, bookmarks and pencils all made from recycled materials. Click here for a big list of ideas.

· If you want to give out candy, consider organic options such as Endangered Species “Bug Bites” and look for candy in bulk. While still made with sugar, organic and all natural ingredients are better for children and growing foods organically is better for the planet and the people who grow them. Companies such as Surf Sweets sell organic candy with low price points.

Costumes

· Go green, save time and money by shopping for your child’s costume at a consignment or thrift shop such as Goodwill.

· Celebrate National Costume Swap Day^™ (www.CostumeSwapDay.com). Have a lunchtime costume exchange with co-workers who are parents, or with your church, after a weekend soccer game or combine it with a ladies night.

· Set the timer and let your kids go on a hunt through the house looking for Halloween costume components. (Be sure to tell them if any parts of the house are off limits). Let their imaginations fly. Instead of being a superhero or television character, the might just want to flex their creative muscles and be something unique.

· If buying, look for costumes made from petroleum-free fabrics that are less likely to contain phthalates, lead or other toxins.

· For the goody bag – use something you already own that goes with their costume. A chef can carry a bowl, a mountain climber a backpack, a princess a purse, football player a helmet, etc. Or go with the adorably eco, keepsake, reusable Green Halloween^®trick-or-treat ChicoBag^®.

Décor

· Instead of buying petroleum based or disposable décor items, think about using items from nature such as pumpkins, gourds, hay, etc. When you’re done, simply toss them into your yard waste bin (if allowed in your area) or compost. Or buy items that are recycled, upcycled, handcrafted or ethically sourced (e.g. Fair Trade) such as those found here.

· Candles are a popular Halloween décor item, but paraffin is an unsustainable product and contributes to poor indoor air quality. Instead choose 100% beeswax candles (available at most health food stores in a rainbow of colors, shapes and sizes). They burn cleaner and longer and don’t make as much of a mess. They also smell naturally sweet.

· Instead of buying décor for the entire lawn, consider decorating just the doorway. Go simple in the house, too, by choosing one area to spruce up. Focusing and simplifying will save time, money and resources.

· At the end of the holiday, pack reusable décor away carefully so that it stays in good shape and can be used for years to come. (Remember, when it comes to holidays, reusing=traditions.) While it may take some extra effort at clean up time, doing so will save money, time and resources in the long run.

Party food

· Don’t make food ahead, instead, make it an activity. Here are a few ideas that are easy and fun to make (not to mention healthy and high on the ‘yum’ scale):

o Pumpkin smoothies

o Pumpkin seed “gorp”

o Halloween pizzas (use pre-made, whole wheat crusts and have available orange, black and green veggies to customize)

o Halloween-ka-bobs (let kids make their own with Halloween colored foods)

Putting some green into your Halloween does not have to be difficult or costly. In the continuum of being green, all families can hop on board! You can start wherever you are. For example, if your family eats organic and shops mostly locally, Green Halloween offers additional ways you can make your holiday even healthier and more green with tips even seasoned health-conscious parents will find useful. If your family has yet to try healthy alternatives, this is a great year to start. Being a part of Green Halloween means trying one new tradition–or trying them all. By going green for just one part of your Halloween, you’ll be making a difference you and your family can be proud of.

Youth Ready Chicago Community Council Region 5 presents After School Program Fest 2011; a free event for the community to showcase and increase the enrollment of youth in after school programs across the region. The community is invited out on Saturday October 1, 2011, to the John L. Yancey Boys & Girls Club, located at 6245 S. Wabash Ave Chicago IL, 60637, from 1pm to 4pm for a day filled with entertainment, fun, and giveaways. Join us RAIN OR SHINE! This event will be moved indoor to the gym if it rains.

Buses will transport people to and from the event leaving from The Center of Change located at 63rd and California and St. Sabina Church located at 7909 S. Racine 60620. CPS Students of all ages and their families are encouraged to attend.

Newtown, warehouse (Theme Day: Mystery Object)

This redeveloped warehouse is located in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The giant mouth, complete with teeth and a tongue poking out, is perched on the facade. There is no signage on this building that might offer any clues about this mystery object.
